The Academic Coaching Center is designed to provide you with the best value for your investment
Cost of Academic Coaching services
One hour of academic coaching costs $120.00 CAD. Most students start with two one hour sessions per week. This allows us enough time to set the student up for success. This initial phase includes assessing the students strengths and skill development needs, analyzing their course requirements, and creating a schedule that encompasses all of their courses and personal commitments. During this initial phase, we also try out a variety of skills to see what suits the student best. This process continues throughout the school year, but tends to be the most intensive in the first few months.

After the initial phase, some students move to a single one hour session per week, or two 30 minute sessions per week. Most students prefer two sessions per week because it provides a checkpoint near the start and end of the academic week, which allows for optimal skill development. Some students keep having two one hour sessions per week throughout the academic year. Students who continue with this level of service benefit from having more time to receive academic skill coaching, which includes reading, writing, note-taking, and studying. Students that benefit from this may be those with more intensive skill development needs due to a greater level of impairment due to their ADHD, learning disability, or other conditions. In addition, students with higher academic performance goals benefit from this level of service.
In total, the yearly cost of academic coaching ranges from about $3000-$8000 CAD.
Flexible services
I believe that it is important to provide students and their families with flexible services. Unlike other coaching agencies, I do not require contracts or a minimum amount of sessions to be purchased. Most of the students I work with stick around for at least one academic year. Some students drop in for help around exam period or to get set up for the semester. The best results come from a year long commitment; however, it is important for students to have options and to try things out on a short term basis if that is what they prefer.
Get Coverage with Extend Health Plans
I am a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. Most extended health plans include coverage for social workers! Check with your provider to see if you have coverage.

As a registered social worker, I have advanced training and experience communication, relationship building, and mental health. As an academic coach, I use these skills to understand what a student is saying, and critically, what they are implying or not able to articulate yet. I help students feel connected and comfortable with me- people learn best from those they trust and like. I stay on the lookout for signs of mental health struggles. Mental health and academic performance are inextricably linked, and is often overlooked and underserved when seeing an academic coach without thorough training and experience helping others with mental health struggles.
